The Boston Foundation’s “Minding the Gap” series focuses on how the racial wealth gap affects our everyday lives and the ways in which addressing it benefits us all. The final event in this series, “Minding the Gap: Personal Wealth," will explore the various ways in which the racial wealth gap impacts a person throughout their lives – and how different wealth building opportunities and interventions can improve one’s quality of life. 

 

Wealth disparities significantly impact individuals throughout their lives by shaping their outcomes in areas such as health, wellness, education, and career. Greater wealth provides substantial advantages, from access to better nutrition and health-care options to financial security during retirement. However, decades of community disinvestment and racial discrimination have significantly limited the ability of households and communities of color to accumulate wealth.
